2025
Adventures!

Anwen, Mahalah and Gideon completed high school in 2024.

Now they are 18 years old and out in the world.

Find out what they are doing now, and how you can help!

Mahalah

Mahalah is currently studying a Bachelor of Science and Arts at University of Wollongong and enjoys the social aspect and convenience of living on campus.

Due to Mahalah’s disability she requires an overnight carer.

Under the carers award all carers must have their own room for sleepover shifts. This means that Mahalah needs to rent two rooms and is paying twice as much as the average residential student. â€‹â€‹

This is has been a considerable financial stress for Mahalah, as she is not able to gain employment as easily as her peers, the NDIS does not assist with rent, and the UOW management is not willing to subsidise the carers room.

Mahalah is keen to continue on and find a career in Science, but has only been able to continue living and studying independently thanks to the funds raised via the Trust.

Thank you for assisting Mahalah to continue her tertiary studies.

Gideon

Gideon is currently studying an Undergraduate Certificate in I.T at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.

He is loving the social aspect of living in a shared flat on campus. Gideon is enjoying developing his understanding of I.T and computers, â€‹â€‹and hopes to go on to a career in cyber security.

The Trust has meant that Gideon has had a backup when the current slow NDIS system has failed to provide timely support for his needs.

This can be a stressful experience. We are grateful for the reassurance that Gideon will have the assistance he needs to live an independent life when/if the system fails him - hopefully not too often! â€‹

Thank you for supporting Gideon.

Anwen

Anwens plans for the future are to travel, experience the world, and learn more about herself, as an independent individual.

She is also hoping to study the psychology and anthropology behind art; "What defines quality art? When did humans first create art? Why is art so important to us?"

Anwen is looking to leave home and move to Canberra this year, as soon as she can find suitable supported accommodation. She looks forward to being a normal resident of Canberra and settling in before starting a course.

Anwen looks forward to living a fulfilling and independant life. The Trust means she has a back up if/when the system fails her. Thank you for investing in her potential.
